FAQ

Where is your office located?
My office is currently accessible through telehealth. This means you can access therapy from the comfort of your home or anywhere you find a safe and quiet space. Many of my clients prefer to have sessions on lunch breaks or out in nature. This is absolutely fine! As long as you are not driving and have access to wifi, we can find a way to integrate the arts & mindfulness into our sessions. We may just need to get a bit creative, but leave that part up to me! If you would like in person sessions (individual or group), please reach out to see if I am offering that option as it may change from time to time.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are 45 minutes in length.

What if I am not an artist or creative, can I still participate in creative arts therapy?
YES! No experience in necessary. I guide and teach clients how to work with various art materials at all levels of experience. I am spoiled in that I get to see clients who have not created artwork since childhood or better claim they do not have one artistic/creative bone in their body, yet create some of the most inspiring art pieces. All you need is an open mind to begin.
How do I pay?
I accept payment through cash, check, credit, and Venmo.
Do you take insurance?
No, I do not accept insurance.
Do you offer superbills?
Yes! However, many insurance providers do not accept Licensed Clinical Art Therapists out of network. Please inquire with your provider prior, as clients will need to be diagnosed formally by a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist. Superbills can be provided by hard copy or electronically at the end of each month.
What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions that are not canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment will be charged the full session rate.

How do you set up an initial appointment?
Please call my direct line at (516) 253-1243 or email me at NicoleLeeTherapy@gmail.com for a free 15-minute consultation to see if we are a good match.
What does the initial session for individuals, children, and couples look like?
Individual Services – After recognizing that we are a good fit to begin therapy together, I will provide you with an intake form which you can take home, fill out and return to me at the following session.

Children Services – I will meet with the primary caretaker(s)/parent(s) for the initial session where we will complete an intake for your child. This intake is important because it allows me to get a better understanding of your child’s history, their needs, and what the parent(s) would like to see as an outcome for their child. Sessions with your child will begin after this initial in-person consult with the parent(s).

Couples – At the end of our first session, I will ask both clients to take home their own intake forms, fill them out and bring them back to me. After the third or fourth session, I will ask to meet with each client individually. After this individual session for both partners, we will resume couples’ therapy as previously.

Will the price of the intake session for my child be the same as their session?
Yes, this step is crucial to the therapy process as you know your child. I will be speaking with the primary parent(s) throughout the course of the child’s therapy to address additional needs such as behavioral challenges, parenting concerns, etc.
How long will I be in therapy?
Knowing how long you will be in therapy is challenging to say because it is so individualized depending upon what you are dealing with and the change you look to see as well as make. This is something we can explore during our time together.
Do you laugh in therapy or is it always intense?
Therapy can be intense, but also understand that the intense feeling is not all the time. I honestly believe that laughing is just as therapeutic as crying. We will be identifying challenging emotions, but who is to say that we can’t also have a good time in therapy? I have the softest tissues and lots of colors to choose for when things get tough.
When can I start?!
As soon as we connect on the phone and explore what your needs are, we can pick a day and time that works for both of us.
